ALW 2018: Active Learning in Virology at Missouri S&T

Active learning takes on many forms in my classes.  In general virology, a lot of time is spent working on case studies and analyzing data. On this particular day, students are learning about an Ebola virus outbreak and how to track the source of the outbreak using genome sequences from isolated Ebola viruses. As they learn about the scientific concepts they are also learning about cultures from around the world and discussing social factors that impact infectious disease detection, spread and treatment.
