STEP WEBINAR - Peer Mentoring at Louisiana State University: A Transition Program to Improve Retention (College of Engineering)

Register HERE

This webinar will present the Peer Mentoring program utilized in Louisiana State University’s College of Engineering Freshmen and Transition programs. Two current senior peer mentors who have participated in the program for 4 years will be hosting the webinar. These two students, as well as others like them, have helped our program grow, and we encourage students seeking to grow programs at their school to participate in the webinar as well.
The presentation includes the goals and objectives of the program, participant selection and training, the leadership structure, the variety of activities the peer mentors host and finally assessments. The assessment suggests the peer-mentoring program has made a significant difference in the retention of engineering students who participate in the programs. Peer mentors have significantly higher mean GPA and graduation rate than other students in the College of Engineering. Students have reported that the program aided their transition into LSU, and for some it has kept them from dropping out of engineering.

This ON LINE webinar will be held on November 13th, 3:00pm Central Time
